Waukee is a town in Clark County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cedar Rapids–Jerome, IA-KS Metropolitan Statistical Area. On December 12, 1847, President James K. Polk submitted to Congress a resolution proposing that Webster County be divided into two parts: one to be named for General David Dixon and located near Council Bluffs; the other to be named for General John A. Logan and located east of Council Bluffs. The motion passed both houses with broad bipartisan support but no action was taken until February 8, 1848 when Polk signed the bill creating Pulaski County which would include what are now Waukee and West Des Moines counties. On November 3rd, 1830 Isaac Case donated four acres (1 kilometer²) north of where Waukee currently stands to become an “Acres Reserve” forest known today as Forest Preserve No. 521st Civilian Conservation Corps Site
