Waukee is a town in Iowa, United States. The population was 1,619 at the 2010 census. Waukee was founded in 1853 by General James K. Polk and his brother, Arthur C. Polk. It is named for their father, Waukegan Polk. The first post office in Waukee was established on November 15, 1853, and was called "Fremont". The name of the town changed to "Waukee" on February 10, 1854,. The original plat of the town were two lots of land located east of present-day Walnut Street and south of State Highway 20. In 1860 they obtained another lot which extended along present-day First Avenue from Walnut to Cedar Streets; this lot became known as Phase One (now Phase Two). In 1865 they obtained a further lot extending along present-day Second Avenue from Cedar to First Streets; this lot became known as Phase Two (now Phase Three). In 1881 the townsite was enlarged when they acquired an additional lot located east of what is now First Avenue between Walnut and Cedar Streets; this lot became known as Phase Four (nowPhase Five). On July 1st 1889 a schoolhouse/church complex called White Sands School opened its doors in phases I through III; it burned down in 1924 but has been reconstructed and is still functioning today as Stroudsburg Methodist Church. On December 5th 1913 Union Pacific Railroad announced plans to build a line from Dubuque to Waterloo via Waukee with tracks passing through the community; however construction never started due to financial difficulties and the railroad passed away without ever completing its project. Today there are no regular train service into or out of Waukee so visitors must rely on buses which run frequently throughout the day across all five phases (Phase One through IV)

Waukee is a town in Polk County, Iowa, United States. The population was 721 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dubuque, Iowa Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Waukee post office was established in 1892. Waukee is located at (40.566667, -93.143333). The first Europeans to visit Waukee were Frenchmen who mapped out present-day Polk County in 1794 while exploring the area for fur traders looking for new routes to China and India. In 1836, American trader George Fenton built a cabin on the east side of what is now Main Street in Waukee after purchasing land from the Sac and Fox Indians near present-day Waterloo Township. In 1838, John Aiken founded an agricultural society called The Gentry in Waukee with his wife Sarah Aiken as president and vice president. That same year, he purchased 640 acres (2 km²) north of where Main Street now stands from David Laughlin for $1 per acre ($/km²). In 1840, Aiken married Anna Jernigan and together they raised four children: Anna (1841–1912), Johnathan (1843–1920), Abigail (1846–1900), and Edward Everett Aiken (1849–1923). They later sold their land and moved to Waterloo Township. In 1863, when Illinois statehood was granted to America, Waukee became one of its original townships; it remained so until 1907 when it became a separate town under the name “Waukesha” due to Postmaster General Amos Kendall’s efforts to get more residents into Dubuque city limits during that time period becauseDubuque was becoming too crowded and expensively priced for many farmers living outside of town boundaries. When Dubuque disbanded its city government in 1907 following years of budget problems caused by overpopulation within its borders, Kendall offered Waukee annexation which they accepted as a result of which they formed their own city government with a mayor/council form of government with five members instead of three elected by residents through popular vote only two years later on October 1st 1909…..
