Bullets have been a part of the Waukee community for over 130 years. Bullet history in this small town can be traced back to 1892 when a group of men from Waukee formed the First Congregational church. The first bullets were made from lead and shot off of shotguns. The town started using pistols in 1907, and rifles in 1912. In 1923, ammunition was banned in the town, but it continued to use handguns until 1990. In that year, Waukee became an open carry city and began using shotguns again. In 2001, the town voted to switch to 9mm pistols instead of revolvers because they felt that 9mm was more accurate than other pistol calibers. Since then, bullet production has slowed down slightly due to stricter gun laws in neighboring Iowa City which have limited ammo production. However, recent news reports show that bullet production may resume as soon as 2019 after changes are made to local regulations in that state.

Waukee is a city in Iowa, United States. The population was 5,944 at the 2010 census. Waukee is located on the banks of the Des Moines River and it is part of the Des Moines–West Des Moines metropolitan area. Waukee is known for its agricultural products, including corn, soybeans, wheat, and hay. The city was named after George Washington Woodbury and John Fritchard Woodbury. The first settlement in what would become Waukee was made by James Caldwell in 1827. At that time there were only a few families living near the riverbank. A gristmill and sawmill were built in 1830 by Captain Samuel Hays and his son-in-law Jacob Nye; these mills became important sources of income for the community. In 1838, Charles Willis donated land to build a school in Waukee; this school would serve as the nucleus around which other local schools quickly formed colonies around it. In 1840, Amos Wright donated land to create a park in honor of his ancestor Amos Winchester who had served as an officer with General George Washington during the American Revolution. This park eventually became known as Woodbury Park/Waukee Park afterGeorge Washington's home town located about two miles (3 km) away from where Waukee now stands. In 1845, Revd Jacob Nye donated land to create a Methodist church in Waukee; this church would grow into one of Iowa's most prominent religious institutions with over 1,000 members present when it merged with another Methodist church nearby in 1907 to form First Methodist Church of Iowa County/Waukee Parish). A gristmill on West Main Street began operating on December 12th 1849 by Isaiah Bowman from Cedar Rapids using water power from an abandoned quarry near Mount Pleasant Avenue and North Seventh Street; this mill became one of earlyIowa's largest employers and produced flour for local markets until 1953 when it closed due to economic conditions In 1865 Union Pacific Railroad founded their main line through central Iowa connecting Cedar Rapids with Omahavia Dubuque; this railroad led to increased trade taking place between Cedar Rapids and Dubuque along routes such as Northwest 9th Street & US 20 west of downtownDubuque leading directly to large factories at Sidney (now Waterloo), Decorah (now Sioux City), Rock Island Arsenal(now Chicago), Red Wing(now Minneapolis), Duluth (now Winnipeg)and many smaller towns along their route . As traffic increased on these roads so too did accidents which led Congress to passthe National Safety Act Of 1863 which required allroads be graded level instead of being left unevenly serpentine making travel dangerous .
