Waukee is a small town in Iowa, located in the Cedar Rapids, IA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 4,724 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Rock County. In 1847 Waukee was founded by George Nolen and J.D. Bigham as a farmstead on the east side of Waterloo Township northwest of present-day Waukee. The first post office was established in 1848, and Waukee had its first school in 1854. The town grew rapidly after it became an incorporated municipality in1867 and its first hospital in 1870; it now has over 20 schools, five hospitals, two libraries, and three shopping malls. The name "Waukee" likely comes from two sources: one connected with George Nolen (1792-1875), who founded Waukee during the Territorial period; and another with James Davenport (1800-1857), who came to Iowa about this time and settled near what is now Waukee on land which he donated to the township for use as a rural cemetery. One theory holds that "Waukee" derives from either Weahegan or Warauhka word meaning "farmstead". There are several such farms still extant within walking distance of downtown Waukee today! George Nolen's family had come to America from Great Britain some years earlier via Holland; they were among those many pioneers who crossed the Prairie River into Illinois Territory during the previous decade pursuant to Ulysses Smeaton's Santa Fe Expedition of 1846-47. George's uncle John organized Minute Men under Captains Nathan Hale (from New York) and Asa Hutchinson (Boston) while journeying southward through Nebraska Territory early in 1847; these brave men played an important role leading General Stephen Averill's forces against Mexico at Buena Vista Park on July 12th that year – thus earning American independence! After arriving hereabouts late that autumn their families erected log cabins for shelter until permanent buildings could be erected sometime later – soon after which they all started farming their parcels lots together! Census data for 1900 reveals just how busy things had become: According to that enumeration 1 resident listed each of 9 jobs occupied outside agriculture/farming activities—-including 3 blacksmiths (!), 2 wheelwrights (1 & 2 steamboats!), 1 baker (& 3 bakers'), 1 undertaker (& 5 undertakers'), 1 harnessmaker (& 10 harnessmakers'), 2 weavers (& 6 weavers'), 2 tailors(& 4 tailors'), 1 tailor (& 4 tailors'), etc.; there were also 8 farmers employed “no occupation given”! With industry burgeoning like this locals began looking out forone another by forming societies or Clubs which met frequently for social purposes outdoors——an example being Fairs started intermittently throughout most or all of Dodge County starting around 1830 where visitors would purchase refreshments before moving on downriverenic trails docked along our streamside—the latter becoming increasingly popular following transportation improvements brought about by railroads beginning around 1850!! Among these earliest participants may have been local lad George Nolen himself(*)—for when Dodge County citizens staged their very first public meeting convened October 12th [1851] at Drake’s Hall pursuant to Ordinance No.—in order “to regulate intercourse between different parts of this County” (!)—George contributed his services as Chairman!! In addition to his agricultural pursuits young George took great interest also in mechanics courses offered by Drury Institute—-resulting him becoming proficient enough eventually To work His way up through various employment levels including Assistant Superintendent purchasing department Missouri Pacific Railroad Company; Carpet Cleaners(); Operator Steam shovel engine Tellico Coal Mine;; Laborer Coal Mine;; Inspector Mines Department Des Moines Railway Company;; Examiner Mines Department Southern Pacific Railway Company))) (* Note: Iowan only). As life went On young George found himself increasingly preoccupied with politics too…especially involvement with Republican PartyEmbracing issues such as protective tariffs & increasing regulationof business!!!). Eventually elected Precinct Marshal for Rock County—a position he held from 1861 until his death….far more activity then what might otherwise be inferred given age—serving concurrently also as Town Clerk….!). Anyway backcountryman GNolan proved himself capable manager managing large families————even taking care of kids when their parents were away working 🙂 ). By 1865notes*George had reached 55yrs old having lived here since 1840!!!!!*)

In 1853, Gottlieb Daimler invented the first practical gasoline-powered air rifle using water vapor as propellant. This device made possible mass production of small arms ammunition for use with pistols and rifles. From this time on, airguns underwent several major changes that impacted their popularity as well as their ability to kill prey effectively. The first major change came about in 1865 when American John Browning introduced his Browning Automatic Rifle – one of the most successful handguns ever made due its high rate of accuracy and low recoil). With this weapon system, gunners could now fire multiple rounds per minute instead of only one every few seconds like previous designs did; this gave users more control over target acquisition and resulted in increased accuracy over traditional firearms

Waukee is a small town in Iowa, United States. The population was 1,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City, IA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1854 by John Waukee and his family. Waukee is named after him and his wife Catherine (née Hays). Waukee was a leading merchant in Cedar Rapids at the time of its founding. In 1870, John Waukee sold his interest in the business to Isaac Sears. At that time, Cedar Rapids had a population of 921 people and Waukee had a population of just over 100 people. In 1905, Harry Capps opened the first grocery store in Cedar Rapids and soon followed with other businesses including a clothing store and bank. One of the most frequented places to eat hereabouts during this time were Two Harbors Restaurant on High Street and Mrs Slattery's Restaurant across from Post Office on Elm Street which served as the center for socializing for many residents. The name "Waukee" stuck around through all these changes until it finally been changed to Cedar Rapids proper in 1907 when Route 6 was rerouted through town center making it easier for cars to enter/exit than it had been before! In 1970, Iowas First Interstate Highway system went into full swing with I-80 ending at Burlington Avenue south of downtown Iowa City while I-76 continued eastward into rural areas beyond what would become downtown IA city limits. This left much rural area without any type of access to either highway so businesses like Two Harbors closed their doors forever unable to compete with larger cities that could offer better infrastructure including expressways! The very large Walmart supercenter now occupies much of what once were small towns along US Highway 6 within easy driving distance of downtown IA city limits! This has completely destroyed any chance anyone may have had at living near or competing against larger municipalities such as Des Moines or Cedar Rapids!

The first post office was established in Waukee in 1855. By 1860, the population had increased to about 150 people. In 1870, a gristmill was built in Waukee and began producing flour for local markets. A school was also erected that year. In 1881, the first railroad reached Waukee and it became a center for grain processing. By 1910, the population had grown to over 1,500 people. The city of Wichita was incorporated within Waukee in 1924 and soon became an important economic center for the area.
