In 1905-06, Waterloo erected a creamery that still stands today and produces local cream products such as cheese, yogurt, ice cream and milk products under license from Dole Foods Incorporated (Dole). The former dairy also served as a community center until it closed down in 1993 due to financial difficulties; however, evidence remains that there were adequate opportunities for public use despite its closure until relatively recently (Lloyd Kline Museum has documentation of this). A new community hall/multi-purpose gymnasium opened its doors on October 10th 2005 replacing what had been an inadequate facilities provided by local government entities prior to that date; however once again budgetary problems led to its closure less than one year later despite strong private donations resulting in an effort by locals to keep it open into 2013 albeit unsuccessfullyato completion without any state funding) Other major industry interests include manufacturing continuedly since 2017 two light industrial buildings that housed three different companies: Ames Manufacturing Solutions LLC.; American Weighing Systems LLC.; Midwest weighing solutions; while also hosting several restaurant options including Hussars Restaurant Group beginning operations early 2018 followed shortly thereafter by Two Hands BBQ & Grills which relocated from Omaha NE following tornado damage along with Livewire Pizza locations opening throughout central Iowa starting approximately late 2017
