In 1865, Captain Stephenson's company disbanded because of financial difficulties- this left captain John Atherton with sole authority for manufacturing firearms in Waterloo! The development of handguns followed shortly afterwards- starting with pistols made from wooden barrels before moving on to pistols using iron or steel barrels over time. Eventually, all handguns became effective weapons thanks to the hard work and technology put into making them- something which cannot be said for most other objects throughout history! Despite this progressiveness though, it is interesting to note that few people are actually still alive who have experienced firearm production at its earliest stages! During this time there were also several churches located close to downtown; all but one have since been replaced by newer buildings or are no longer used for religious services due to lack of interest or depreciation over time. Waterloo has experienced growth throughout its history: annexation by Cedar Rapids in 1907 (following a referendum vote), establishment as a borough by ordnance order on November 14, 1913 (due to increased population growth), becoming an city on September 20, 1925 (the result of another referendum vote), annexing neighboring Clearwater Township on December 5th that year (following another referendum vote) and finally becoming a full-time municipality on January 3rd 1954 throughordinance passage which followed local referenda rejecting annexation proposals from both Clearwater Township and Cedar Rapids Mayor Harry Laughlin's opponent John Wolkowitz Sr.. The following year saw further growth when annexed other portions of Polk County including Grangeville Heights and Arlington Heights making Waterloo officially "Westminster".
