During World War II both Germany and Japan developed their own versions of firearms called “Guns & Germs”- this represented a big shift in how weaponry was developed across all countries during this period! Theseguns featured new designs that allowed for much faster firing rates than traditional firearms- making them perfect for warfare! In 1945, after years of development and testing, the Allies finally secured victory against Nazi Germany! After WWII ended, many firearm companies quickly returned to production- making new rounds for various guns all throughout America! In 1862, George Witte settled here with his family from Iowa City. He operated a farm until his death in 1918. Another early settler, William Johnstone, arrived about 1870 and started a blacksmith shop which still stands today on 3rd Street near Main Street. A post office was established in Pella on July 15, 1873; it remained open until it was discontinued by the federal government in 1906. As a result of its proximity to Sioux City and Omaha, Pella became an important center for transportation during the late 1800s when steamboats crossed the Missouri River to carries goods between those cities. Later settlement included: Edwin Fetterman (1881-1964) who opened an ice cream parlor on 2nd Street; Clarence Herrington (1902-1978) who ran a grocery store at 6th Avenue South and Elmira Road; Harry Jorgensen (1920-) who operated several gas stations around town including one at 7th Avenue South where he served as Mayor from 1951 to 1957; Don Drake (1928-) owner/operator of two convenience stores along 3rd Street which he closed down after only six months due to high competition from larger stores adjacent to him; Marvin Schiefferhoffer (1945-) owner/operator of another convenience store across from Interstate 80 just east of town limits before closing it down as well when economic conditions changed overnight ; Gene Raderkamp Sr., acting manager for four years for IH Foods Inc., which later became known as Archer Daniels Midland Company.; Ed Weisman Jr.(1966-) current Manager for Ned's Pizza

Today, Pella remains an important community with a rich history that has helped make it one of the most popular places to live in Iowa. Its residents are known for their hearty spirit and hospitality; they are also known for their delicious food and hometown atmosphere.
Pella was founded in 1848 by Methodist missionaries. The town became a center for the Latter Day Saints during the early years of their movement to Utah. In 1871, Pella was chosen as the site of the first LDS temple.
