In 1911, another flour mill was built south of town along CR 622 (now US-244) just east of present day State Highway 244 (Former US 24B), becoming known as "The Flour Mill". After years of being home to several small businesses including two general stores operated by family members before they closed down due to lack of customers, it was decided that "The Alley" should close its doors permanently because it wasn't able compete with larger commercial establishments such as Walmart or Target who had been opening up around town since before World War II. However; over time there has been more development than what initially occurred when "The Alley" closed down; this can be seen especially during late night hours when much business takes place within walking distance from most residents' homes leading many people believe that this area could use some type of attraction like an amusement park or casino given how popular these types of businesses are now within walking distance for everyone bar those who live far out into rural areas where casinos are not practical given financial restrictions today
