Hickey being the primary impetus behind it all! In fact, many of the early settlers here were actually related to one another: John P.'s father and mother both came from Ireland; his paternal grandfather also hailed from Ireland; and two of John P.'s uncles also lived here before moving on to start their own families (John D’Angelo and Michael Noonan). Interestingly enough, even though its inception stemmed largely from within its own community – something that still continues today with many residents actively involved in day-to-day operations – Oskaloosa did not stay static for very long! After only railroad arrival here on November 15th, 1915 – less than two years after incorporation – Oskaloosa saw an instant uptick in growth! Not only did new arrivals decide to call this newly formed city home rather than continue living scattered around rural Polk County like they had been doing up until then; but so too did businesses begin opening up thanks to what could now be seen as some pretty excellent transportation options right nearby! This sudden increase in activity not only made life easier for those already residing here; but it also helped contribute towards greater success down the road for everyone involved! Today marks quite a momentous occasion all things considered when it comes to Oskaloosans… More specifically, it’s International Day of Culture which happens every year on October 25th!
