In 1905, another store opened on Broadway Avenue; this store became known as "The Farmers' Store." It wasn't until 1917 that an electric light system went into use in North Liberty; this system replaced an old gas system which had been used for many years before that.

The history of North Liberty begins with its founding date – December 11th, 1854 – which coincides with the arrival of American pioneers from New England via boat on what is now known as South Dakota Avenue. Many residents from that region were attracted to this new land because it was still flat after being uplifted by previous floods caused by heavy rains events that year. The first documented settler in present-day North Liberty was Nicholas Coffin who purchased 640 acres (240 hectares) north of present-day town center from Amos Kendall for $450 ($10 per acre) on November 3rd, 1854; this purchase marked the beginning of what would become a long and prosperous relationship between North Liberty and Amesbury Township [now West Des Moines], IA In 1830 another group arrived at what would become North Liberty from New Hampshire via steamboat: these settlers were led by Captain John Morse who owned 400 acres (160 hectares). Captain Morse donated his land to establish a township which he named after himself: “NorthLiberty” The first post office opened in 1857 under name “Ankeny” but changed to “NorthLiberty” soon thereafter due to popular demand In1869 Jesse Smith bought 500 acres (230 hectares) adjacent to present daynorth liberty for $560 ($15 per acre), becoming one of the most influential early investors in this community Over time other prominent families joined forces with Smith including Samuel Haines who purchased an additional 800 acres (300 hectares) east side bordering Amesbury Township on December 10th1871 for just $3/$5 per acre increase over pre-existing parcel boundaries On January 1st 1872 Isaac Chamberlain took delivery of his very own 600-acre (250 hectare) farm located northwest cornerof today's northlibertytown limits During this time there were no railroads available yet so farmers transported their goods&agricultural products all over country through horseback & wagon
The first settlers in North Liberty, Iowa were a group of Methodist missionaries who arrived in 1847. The town was founded on what is now the east side of the city limits of Des Moines. The town name was changed to North Liberty in 1881 after it became part of the City of Des Moines. North Liberty served as the capital of Iowa from 1849 to 1861, and again from 1865 to 1868.
