Marshalltown, Iowa is home to one of the most significant rifle stocks in American history. The town was founded in 1851 by Captain John Marshall and his men during the Oregon Trail. The town's namesake, John Marshall, played a significant role in helping to create and maintain the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. In 1897, Colonel George Sibley took ownership of what is now known as Sibley & Company rifles and shotguns store. Colonel Sibley was instrumental in developing the firearms industry in Marshalltown and helped to establish its reputation for quality products. The store continued to be run by Sibley family members until 1971 when it merged with GSG Corporation. Today, GSG Corporation operates a portion of the original store which remains open as a shooting museum. The early history of rifle stocks can be traced back to 1851 when Captain John Marshall led his men on an important trip across America. Heading westward from Missouri, they encountered numerous rivers and mountains while traveling through Texas and Mexico before reaching California on September 14th. While there, they discovered an area that would play a significant role in later Rifle Stock History: The Great Basin region of Oregon. This area had beenuninhabited for centuries due to thick forests which covered much of central Oregon at this time. When Captain Marshall's group arrived at what is now called Wallowa County they found themselves surrounded by uninhabitable land. To make matters worse, the weather was incredibly cold; temperatures below -50 degrees Fahrenheit! Despite these challenges, Captain Marshall's men were determined to explore this new territory and see if any potential resources existed therein! After weeks of hard work they finally arrived at their destination: A small valley within Wallowa County that would eventually become known as Willamette Valley! The first settlers who lived in this area were farmers who grew crops and raised livestock alongside their Native American neighbors. However, afterCaptain Marshall's expedition reached their destination there were no native residents living near him anymore so he had to find new land himself! He began construction on what is now known as Marshalls Ranch – one of the largest Rancho Grande properties west ofthe Rockies at that time! This ranch would become one of the most important parts of Rifle Stock History because it served as a testing ground for new rifles designs that would be used on later campaigns throughout America! It also marks where President James Kansa purchased his first rifle from Captain Marshal – an antique Model 1853 Winchester named “Nancy”! During these early years many other businesses popped up around Marshalls Ranch including furriers (who manufactured clothing outfitting Native Americans) wagon drivers (who transported goods between Marshalls Ranch and nearby towns), blacksmiths (who worked on handguns and other artillery pieces),and even a general store catering specifically to soldiers stationed nearby! It wasn't until 1861 when General Ulysses S Grant ordered all military posts throughout America closed due to armament shortages!!
