Additionally many small businesses have been founded within the city limits during this time including several fabric stores (Hanes & Taylor), an ice cream parlor (Cocoa Puffs), a printing shop (Goudreau Printing House), a welding shop (Welding Supply Plus/Nuttall) and two banks - First National Bank of Marshalltown & PeoplesBank - both which remain active today providing local economic stability within their respective communities. In recent years there has been significant redevelopment taking place within downtown Marshtown which includes new construction along Third Street SE including several restaurants (Boyle's Irish restaurant - opened in 2014), two bars/pubs (The Boilermaker pub - open since 2015) as well as a few retail stores such as Home Depot and Macy's department store addition along Fourth Street SE between Third Street SE and Fourth Street NE making downtownMarshtown one major shopping destination for locals and visitors alike. This redevelopment has helped increase activity levels within downtown Marshtown while also creating some new housing units that are available for purchase or rent throughout downtown marshtown...thus continuing to create life & opportunity within this vibrant community!

Marshalltown, IA is a small town located in the eastern part of Iowa. The population was 5,510 at the 2010 census. The town was named for General James O. Marshall, an American general who fought in the Mexican-American War and then served as President Ulysses S. Grant’s Secretary of War. Since its establishment as a town, Marshalltown has seen many changes. In 1925 it became an independent city; this occurred after residents rejected a proposal to merge with nearby Cedar Rapids. In 1951, Marshallstown established itself as a State College campus; this occurred after State University of Iowa approved plans to move its main campus from Cedar Rapids to what would become Marshtown. As part of State College’s growth, it began constructing new buildings on land that had been donated by Jock Mahony, a local rancher and philanthropist who also founded Kinnick Stadium (now Kinnick Stadium/ winning bowl game stadium). Today, Marshtown is known for its large number of businesses and its vibrant culture which includes both traditional local foods and international flavors found throughout much of Illinois and other parts of North America. The town's annual Oktoberfest celebration celebrates German culture and cuisine while also featuring local artisans selling their products from stands throughout downtown streetscape
