In Marion, Iowa, the townspeople have been using firearms for centuries. The first gun in the town was a hunting rifle that was used by the local farmers to take care of their animals. In 1875, a store opened up in town and began selling guns. By 1912, there were over 30 businesses in Marion and around 50 guns available for sale. In 1916, the city of Marion passed an ordinance outlawing handguns. This caused some people to begin buying handguns from other towns in order to keep them safe. However, this tactic did not work and soon handgun sales had resumed at normal levels. Many people also got involved in shooting matches and tournaments with their rifles or shotguns. In 1919, two German immigrants who had come to America as refugees started a gun business in Marion called Kriegsgewehr & Waffenfabrik (K&W). This company became very successful and produced many different types of guns including pistols and shotguns. In 1926, Kriegsgewehr & Waffenfabrik merged with Winchester Arms Company to become Winchester Firearms Corporation which continued producing handguns until 1986 when it merged with Colt Incorporated to form Colt-McCarthy Industries Incorporated

Marion, Iowa is a small town in the eastern Great Plains of Nebraska. It is located on the west bank of the Des Moines River, about 20 miles south of Omaha. The population was 5,362 at the 2010 census. The area that would become Marion was first settled by Native Americans in 1836. A post office called Marion was established in 1841, and it remained in operation until 1907. In 1849, General George Sibley founded what would become Omaha and platted what became Marion around this time. In 1861, Confederate troops burned Union barns and buildings in Marion after they overran the town during the Civil War. The Destruction of Property Act of 1862 made it a felony to damage property belonging to any government or person not authorized by law to do so. In 1865, a train depot was built here and named for General Ulysses S. Grant who had been President at the time. This depot served as a stop on stagecoach routes between Omaha and Boston during those days. After Grant’s death in 1868, his widow donated land for a Presbyterian church which was dedicated in 1870. The congregation grew rapidly since there were no schools nearby to provide religious instruction for local children; therefore, an academy (now known as Washington University) was built adjacent to the church to accommodate these needs from 1886-1902). A new courthouse (now Scottrade Center) replaced the old one which burned down in 1902 while being used as a jail; however, when that building closed its doors for good following World War II it became known as “The White House” until 1978 when it reopened as part of Lincoln Memorial Park with its current name after then president Richard M Nixon’s visit thereto on April 1st 1978). When Nebraska entered into statehood on January 6th 1912 under Governor John Evans with boundaries defined by congressional districts rather than county lines, Marion lay within Holmes County but claimed by Douglas County because Douglas had more people living there than Holmes did At that time certain businesses within downtown appeared only through mail order catalogues usually sent out from farmsteads outside town limits

A teacher was hired for the school and construction began soon afterward. The first building that stands today on Main Street was erected in 1865. The town continued to grow until it reached its peak during the late 1800s when it had a population of around 1,500 people. During this time, there were many businesses located in town including a hardware store, grocery store, bank and flour mill. In 1908, Marion became an incorporated city and has beengrowing ever since then becoming one of Iowa's most thriving cities with over 20 years of experience!
