In 1948, much work went into creating Interstate 80 through Webster County; Johnston became one of few towns along that road not destroyed by construction projects (the other being Cedar Rapids). In 1957–58 when Interstate 90 was completed through Webster County almost everything old burned off –except for some buildings near our current courthouse which were rebuilt using local materials including brick taken from an old jail site just outside town limits! The decline of agriculture began before this new interstate arrived; there have been numerous reports throughout history about how modern farming techniques have changed how crops are grown so that farmers can no longer rely on traditional methods like planting corn late summer so that it can be harvested while cold weather sets in; now those same severe weather conditions often mean harvesting must take place earlier or later still causing major losses for farmers……….
