In 1870, Ft Worth was decommissioned and its assets sold off to various private individuals including Ransom Iron Works which continued producing cannons until 1903 when it closed down completely due to economic conditions within America during that time period. In 1935–1936 an unsuccessful effort was made to rehabilitate or reuse parts of Ft Worth as a tourist attraction however no success was achieved; all that remains of Ft Worth today are some foundations located near downtown Wichita Falls Texas).
