After the war ended, Fort Dodge slowly regained its former importance as a farming community until World War II when it again saw growth due to wartime industrialization along with other rural towns within Central Iowa that took advantage of wartime opportunities. In recent decades, Fort Dodge has seen steady growth due to its location within central Iowa and its proximity to major metropolitan areas such as Des Moines and Chicago; however, some residents remain concerned about gentrification trends taking hold within the town despite its history and traditional values

Fort Dodge is a town in Johnson County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,874 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1854 as an army post and named for General James K. Polk. Fort Dodge served as a supply depot on the Santa Fe Trail before becoming a cattle station and later a mining center. In 1862, Ft Douglas became known as Fort Dodge after General William Tecumseh Sherman arrived at the city to lead Union forces against Confederate forces during the American Civil War. In 1897, two years after construction of the Missouri River Bridge (the first across the Missouri River), Ft Dodge became part of Des Moines metropolitan area when it seceded from Council Bluffs, Iowa to become its own municipality. At that time, it had a population of 921 residents and consisted of three blocks long and only consisted of four streets width-wise due to lack of room for more buildings on either side of Independence Avenue between Second Street and Third Street near Park Avenue/Iowa Highway 33rd Street corner). Over time, however, demographics changed so much within Des Moines that Ft Dodge no longer saw any significant growth or development outside its borders; instead it slowly lost its importance within DesMoines while also losing touch with its community roots both inside and outside ofDes Moines proper However despite these challenges faced by Ft dodge over time throughout most recent decades all entities have finally come together once again culminating into this year's celebration marking 100 years since inception - A Celebration Of History!
