Clive, Iowa is a small town in the Una Valley located about an hour outside of Des Moines, Iowa. The population was 5,362 at the 2000 census and has decreased to 4,812 as of the 2010 census. Clive's history can be traced back to 1859 when it was named after Jesse Clifton Hazard. It was part of Johnson County until 1889 when it became part of Fayette County. In 1907 it became a city and retains that status today. Clive is known for its farmers markets which are open every Saturday from 9am-1pm and 3pm-6pm during winter months and 10am-1pm on Sundays. It also has a variety of businesses including two banks (The First National Bank and The Second National Bank), four convenience stores (Crusty's Pizza, Joes Griddle House Cafe & Brewery, Hardware Store & Grocery store, Mr Beer), two restaurants (The Painted Lady Restaurant and The Dairy Queen), one health club (Everest Health Club) and one small retail store (Bible Job Connection).
