Clive is a small town in Iowa, located about an hour southeast of Des Moines. The population was 2,718 at the 2010 census. Clive is home to the Clive-Boyd School District and the Clive Community Library. The community is also home to one of the few churches in Iowa. Clive was founded in 1854 by John Boyd and his wife Lucy. Boyd had come toIowa from Kentucky and started a farm near present-day Clive. In 1858, he married Lucille Slaughter, who came from a family of farmers in eastern Iowa. The Slaughters helped develop Clive into a small town with a population of 1,500 in 1906. Clive has been through many changes over its history - it became an agricultural center during the Great Depression; it grew as a manufacturing town during World War II; and it has seen gradual growth since 2000 when it became an unincorporated community within the Clive-Boyd School District. Residents are currently working to keep their community vibrant by promoting local businesses, hosting events such as annual carnivals and summer festivals, and creating new programs that promote cultural experiences within the community (e.g., art classes for children).

Clive, IA is a city in Johnson County, Iowa, United States. The population was 5,847 at the 2010 census. Clive is located on the Missouri River and is part of the Des Moines–West Des Moines Metropolitan Area. Clive is a manufacturing town and has been powered by its four largest employers: Boeing Aircraft,[1] Mid-American Railway,[2] American Weighing and Measurement Solutions (AWMS),[3] and Bechtel Corporation.[4][5] The area surrounding Clive was first settled by farmers in the 1820s. In 1838, US Congressman James K. Polk traveled through Iowa City and heard about a man who had built a flour mill on the river near today's Walmart. Polk convinced Congress to pass the Mill Act which created the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Markets (IDAM) to regulate flour mills in Iowa. The original mill site became home to Mid-American Railway (MAR). MAR constructed two more dams across the Missouri River east of Clive for their tracks that are now visible from Interstate 80/US 60 Business Loop south of town. The dams were completed in 1907 and 1914 respectively; they remain one of MR's most prominent tourist attractions today. Mar also constructed an amusement park called Keystone Kingdom which closed down in 1984 but remains memorialized with a statue outside of town center today. In 1930, American Weighing & Measurement Solutions (AWMS) opened its doors as one of America's first electronic weighing plants when it purchased assets from George Whitehead & Company; AWMS' products still dominate this industry today! In 2007, AWMS merged with European weighing giant Accumulated Weight Incorporated but continues production here at their parent company’s headquarters in Clive! Today, AWMS employs over 1,500 people across 30 states worldwide!
