The success of Winchester Repeating Arms Company led to other manufacturers joining them over time: Savage Arms Corporation (Savage), Browning Firearms Corporation (Browning), Colt Manufacturing Company (Colt), Smith & Wesson Firearms Corp.(Smith & Wesson) - all of whom continued to produce high quality firearms until 1988 when they were bought by Beretta USA Incorporated.
