Boone, Iowa is a small town in the Great Lakes region of the Midwest. The population was 5,856 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cedar Rapids–Winona–Kearney, IA-KS Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first white people to live in Boone were three men and their families who came overland from Illinois in 1847. They named their settlement "Fenway" after John Fenway, one of the largest landowners in eastern Nebraska at that time. In 1851, they founded a post office called "Boone" after General James Fenton Boone, who had fought in the American Civil War and died soon afterward at age sixty-eight years old. The first crops grown here were corn and beans; later potatoes became common as well. In 1907, an act was passed by the Iowa Legislature which designated Boone as a city. This occurred because during that decade there was an increase in automobile travel through this area and it became more difficult for farmers to get goods from their land to market without cars. At first only farmers could vote; however, by 1920 all citizens were given voting rights regardless of property ownership or income level. The city's original boundaries included present day Webster City and parts of what are now Janesville and West Des Moines counties. In 1925, when Boone joined neighboring Cedar Rapids as a separate municipality under state law due to its growing population (the two cities had merged into one municipality four years earlier), Webster City remained within the new boundary while West Des Moines County entered into annexation with Boone on July 1, 1925 – making Boone fully independent again! Today much of downtown Boone remains untouched from when it was just a farming community with few buildings other than churches and schools until recently – it’s hard not to feel like you’re living in history! There are still quite a few farm animals around though: many cows on pastures near town center while some pigs also roam free along roadsides; several horses also reside near farms west of town limits (although these aren’t kept up very often). Although education has become more important for today’s Boones than ever before (especially considering how technology has changed things), there are still quite a few businesses here that date back decades including Jiffy Lube Garage & Service Station which opened its doors way back when this area consisted mostly of farmland used for hay production; Bob’s Barber Shop which since 1975 has been providing quality haircuts - something that definitely wasn’t easy back then either! And last but not least we have Old Market Place where you can buy groceries if you don’t mind getting your food delivered right to your door… what life wouldn't be better withthat kind of convenience?!

Boone is a small town in southwestern Iowa. It was founded in 1856 by Samuel Boone and his wife, Lucinda. The town was named for John A. Boone, the father of John A. Boone was founded in 1824 by Captain James H. Boone and his wife, Sarah. The town was named after General James H. Carleton, who had fought against the Sioux in 1815. The Carleton family later donated land to the town for development. In 1861, Boone became a county seat of Union County and remained so until 1932.
