Boone, Iowa is a small town in the state of Iowa. The population was 3,563 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cedar Rapids–Des Moines–West Des Moines Combined Statistical Area. The first settler in Boone was Gideon Weller in 1855. The town was platted in 1857 by John A. Dutton and named for General James Boone who had died that year. In 1865, Boone became an unincorporated community when it merged with Burlington to form Cedar Rapids Township. In 1907, the Burlington Railroad built a line from Burlington to Boone which made the town more accessible and led to its growth. In 1912, the first school opened in Boone and remained open until it closed in 1974. In 1970, President Richard Nixon visited Boone while he was campaigning for re-election and gave a speech at the high school gymnasium which has been preserved as part of local history since then. He also visited the Bohannon Dam on nearby Clear Creek during his trip which helped bring new life to the area due to increased water usage by farmers statewide during that decade. On July 2nd, 1990, after continuous fundraising efforts by members of the community and others, construction began on what would become known as "The Boonesville Project" – a $2 million project that renovated four blocks of Main Street into an improved pedestrian mall with restaurants, shops, services and office space.. The project was completed two years later on October 10th,. Since its opening, The Boonesville Project has featured many notable events including concerts by artists like Rolling Stones and U2., wakes up calls from neighboring communities for people living near water levels above flood stage according to National Weather Service forecasts (), fireworks displays over downtown during pumpkin festivals (), art exhibits (including one featuring local artistDONALD TRUMP) throughout fall/winter monthsand much more!

The first settler in what is now Boone was Captured Joe Brown on December 17th 1853 while he was attempting to cross over into Illinois from Missouri during the Famine scare which swept America at that time He arrived here January 3rd 1854 after spending four months traveling through Nebraska & Kansas
Boone was founded by Isaac Boone in 1836. He named the town after his father, John Boone. The first store in the town was built in 1870. The population of Boone grew to over 200 residents by 1880. In 1911, the Burlington Northern Railroad donated land to the town for a railroad station and depot. The depot was demolished in 1948 but the train tracks remain today as part of thetown's infrastructure.
