Electronic triggers work by means of a signal sent through wires from an electrical device (usually a battery) to an armature within the trigger mechanism which then fires the gun when it receives an appropriate electrical current
The first guns in Ames were shotguns. The gun that is today considered the first rifle in Ames was a black powder revolver called the “Peacemaker”. It was first used by Captain George Peabody and his men during the American Revolution.
Ames, Iowa is a city in Pottawatomie County, Iowa, United States. The population was 953 at the 2000 census. Ames is the county seat of Pottawatomie County and it is also home to the only college in Pottawatomie County and one of the two colleges in Douglas County. The other college is University of Central Iowa. Ames was founded by John C. Ames on December 12, 1854 as a small community on what is now IA-27 south of present day Ames. It became an important center for education within Pottawatomie County due to its location near two colleges and several businesses including Wanamaker's department store and a meat market. On April 29, 1907, Ames was made an incorporated municipality with a population of 514 residents. In 1916, Ames burned down after being damaged by arsonists; however, it quickly rebuilt and continued to grow in population until 1990 when it had a population of 881 residents. On November 6th, 2008 the City Council voted to annex part of East Des Moines into Ames effective January 1st 2009 . This annexation would have added over 100 acres (40 hectares) of land located east of IA-27 which would have given the city more office space as well as new homesites for developers looking to build in eastern Ames

Ames, Iowa is a small town in Limestone County, Iowa, United States. Ames was founded in 1847 by Captain John Mason and his wife Sarah. It became a city in 1907. The population of Ames was 159 at the 2010 census. The first permanent settlers arrived in 1847 and built their first house on the east side of modern-day Ames Street. They named their new town after Captain John Mason, who had led them there during the Mexican War. The Masons soon developed a successful agricultural business and were able to provide for their community by buying land around it. They also donated many of the local buildings and trees that still stand today. In 1907, Ames became a city after its citizens voted to establish a municipal government within its boundaries. The merger saw the creation of one of the most vibrant cities in central Iowa—a hub for culture, commerce, education, and entertainment. In recent years, Ames has seen an increase inmopolitan residents as it becomes increasingly known for its nightlife and cultural attractions such as the Iowa State Fairgrounds where art exhibits are held every year during summertime.
