This enabled it to fulfill many needs seen in law enforcement vehicles including providing superior brightness levels at all distances while being able to work in low light conditions without fear of losing power or becoming unusable. It wasn't until 1968 that daylight LEDs became available which made these weaponsights obsolete within just a few years!

It became a city in 1907. The first post office in Altoona opened on February 12, 1872. The Altman family name comes from the Swiss mountain village of Andergast which is located near the town's original location on the Canadian River. Judge Isaac Altman had migrated to America from Switzerland with his parents and siblings in 1851 when he was just seventeen years old and continued to live there until his death in 1925. He characterized America as "the land of opportunity" and donated $5,000 to build the first schoolhouse in Armstrong County- this donation helped fund many of the early community's educational needs. Judge Altman's second son John Wieland Altman also immigrated to America at age seventeen and settled in Armstrong County where he farmed for many years before entering business ownership himself. In 1907, Mayor George Fenton announced that Altoona would become a city due to its high population growth rate and investment by local businessmen into public works projects such as streetlights, sewers, water supplies and parks throughout its boundaries including new libraries (1907), hospitals (1910) and an auditorium (1920). Today Altoona is a thriving community with culture, shopping and nightlife options enjoyed by locals and visitors alike – all while keeping its namesake history alive!
