The company was revived in 1992 as a unit of Colt Defense LLC, and currently produces pistols, rifles, shotguns and ammunition products under the Colt name.

The Zionsville Rifle Company was founded in 1868 and served in the Union army during the American Civil War. The company also manufactured rifles for the Indian Wars and other conflicts. In 1920, the company merged with the Indianapolis Arsenal Company to form The Indianapolis Arms Corporation. The company continued manufacturing firearms until it ceased operations in 1970.
Zionsville is a small town in the northwest corner of Indiana. The population was 3,029 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. Zionsville was founded in 1824 by James and Esther Zions. The first settler in what is now Zionsville was Isaac Goodrich. In 1830, John Sennett erected the first store in what is now Zionsville. By 1840, there were eight stores in Zionsville and some 60 residents. The late 1800s were a time of great growth for Zionsville as entrepreneurs came to take advantage of its location on the Root Canal Railroad and other opportunities. One such entrepreneur was Emmet Jenson who built a large cotton gin here during the early years of this century. In 1907, much to the dismay of many residents, extensive engineering work began on the building that would become home to Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). The $20 million project transformed downtown into one of IUPUI's most vibrant campuses with new buildings includingthe monumental McCormick Building and iconic Memorial Auditorium/Gymnasium complex which still stands today! After more than 50 years of continuous use by IUPUI students and faculty, it reached its final condition – ready for occupancy – on September 14th, 2013!

Zionsville, Indiana is located in thewesterncentral region of Indiana. The population of Zionsville was 7,362 at the 2000 census. It is the third most populous city in Crawford County and the second largest city in Butler County. In 1800, explorer Daniel Boone set up a trading post here on the Ohio River. The post served as a link between Kentucky and Virginia. The first settlement in what is now Zionsville was made by Methodist missionaries, who arrived here from British North America in 1815. They founded a small town named after their leader, John Wesley—Zion for "the Spot." After Fort Wayne was founded nearby in 1816, Zion's commercial center began to take shape around that outpost. By 1830, however, Fort Wayne had become the larger town and Zionsville gradually lost its importance as a commercial center. In 1836–37 settlers from Illinois arrived at Zion and began to build a large mill at what is now downtown Zionsville. This prompted an effort by local farmers to get Congress to pass an act authorizing wagon trade with Texas via New Mexico Territory (now Arizona). This led to increased business activity at the new mill and helped revivegrowthofZionvillegroupingtogethertoformacity charter on March 3, 1840; this became Chicago on November 15th of that year following enactment of legislation authorizing incorporation by mail only under special circumstances authorized by congress.(1) In 1861–1862 Union troops burned down part of the old brick courthouse which stood near present-day State Street in downtown Zionsville after Confederate forces destroyed property belonging to Union soldiers during battle near that location two years earlier (see Battle of Zion Mills). No damage resulted from this attack other than some broken windows. The reconstructed courthouse reopened shortly thereafter without incident on October 16th 1865 following restoration work funded largely by contributions from citizens of Chicago.(2) From then until his death three years later (January 2nd 1870), Mayor George Wacker led an intense campaign against pollution caused by factories along South Michigan Avenue east of town.(3) He also successfully campaigned for passage of a law providing free public education through high school for all children regardless of parents' income levels.(4) Although traffic congestion was inevitable due to large numbers of students attending college closebyandunsustainableengercapacityinformerdays,[5]Wackerwas ultimately successfulinachievinghis goalsandtownbecameoneofthe most rapidly growing cities in America during his tenure as mayor.(6) City services such as parks and water systems were also expanded during Wacker's time as mayor including installationofanelectriclightplant(1901), paving OFallroadways(1910), creationofthefirstpubliclibrary(1911), establishmentofthesquarepark(1920),andbuildingofthelaboratoryskyway(1929).
