Zionsville is a small town in central Indiana, United States. The population was 2,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what is now Zionsville was David Whitcomb and his family who arrived in 1814. David had married Guilford County native Nancy Hanks and they settled on a tract of land which they named "Whitcomb's Prairie". In 1829, John Whitcomb purchased the land from David and moved his family to Zionsville. The Whitcombs were the first postmaster in Zionsville and built their home on Main Street in 1835. They raised crops, livestock, and operated a bakery until 1861 when they turned their business over to their son-in-law, Elijah Minton Jr., Sr.. Minton started manufacturing shoes there from 1861 until 1865 when he closed down due to financial difficulties. He reopened it two years later but this time enterprise failed and he closed it again in 1870. After several failed attempts he finally opened an insurance office in 1881 which led to his success as an entrepreneur for many years thereafter. In 1903 Union Pacific Railroad leased Minton's shoe factory for $1 million; this made him one of the most successful industrialists of that era. For many years after that Zionsville enjoyed steady economic growth with Amoco becoming one of its main customers beginning in the late 1940s when production moved from Indianapolis to Zionsville because of eminent domain proceedings brought by then Mayor Jock Sayers (1943). These activities eventually resulted in increased traffic congestion around town which led to efforts by city leaders to improve transportation facilities within town limits during the late 1970s while residents lobbied unsuccessfully for new expressway construction outside of town limits only resulting in money paid into infrastructure development projects without any tangible results other than increasing vehicle traffic levels aroundtown). In recent decades local officials have worked hard to revive downtown businesses including initiating an effort to create a pedestrian mall within town boundaries while also working towards developing a downtown redevelopment district surroundingthe courthouse complex which would include both new businessespaceand rehabilitated historic buildingsknew as District 2A)

Zionsville is a small town in central Indiana, United States. The population was 1,527 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Union Township local government. The first permanent settler in what is now Zionsville was Daniel Boone in 1779. He and his family built a log cabin on the banks of the White River. A post office called Zionsville was established in 1819, and it remained in operation until 1889. The first store in Zionsville was built by Isaac Anderson in 1865. In 1868, Johnnie Hill founded the first grocery store in Zionsville with two stores and one warehouse. In 1886, Jno Weaver opened a general merchandise store that became well known throughout the community for its high-quality products and excellent customer service. In 1907, George Weiser opened a hardware store that remains active to this day. In 1922, Harry Wessel erected an elegant brick building which served as the original courthouse for Union Township until it burned down in 1965. The current courthouse was built next door and dedicated on October 16, 1998. In 1928, Don Haggerty started a gas station near the intersection of Highways 68 and 421 which became one of Zionsville's most popular businesses until it closed its doors at around 2003 due to financial troubles. In 1932, Effie Fenton opened her own restaurant called "Fenton's" which remain open to this day as one of downtown Zionsville's most popular dining establishments. Finally, starting in 1951 there were several large housing developments located within walking distance of downtown including: Park Place I-PARK (now known as "Everest"), Pruitts Mill II-POOST (now known as "Leisure Village"), Eveready Place I-VELVEY (now known as "Eveready Village II"), Garden Place I-GARDEN (now known as "The Villages",, < ref name="VillaLagoI"> VillaLago
