In 1892, Westfield, Indiana had its first gun store. The store was named the Arsenal and was located on the east side of town. It was built by Nathaniel Tilton and his brother-in-law, Ebenezer Morse. The Arsenal featured a variety of guns and ammunition, as well as a rifle range. In 1903, the Tilton family sold the Arsenal to Julius Weimer and his wife Lillie Clements Weimer. The Weimers renamed it the Arsenal Ammunition Co., Incorporated in 1907. In 1911, Julius Weimer passed away and his son Harry became president of the company. In 1916, Harry Weimer died and his son Albert took over presidency. At this time,Arsenal Ammunition Co., Incorporated distributed ammunition all over Indiana including Westfield. On July 1st 1921,Albert Weimer died suddenly at age 58 due to a heart attack; he was succeeded by his nephew Harold Wernick who served until 1929 when he also died suddenly from a heart attack at age 60; however Harold Wernick's daughter Eleanor ran the business until her death in 1957 which then passed to her husband Samuel Jaffe who continued it until 1978 when it merged with Bethlehem Steel Corporation to form that company's current name of Westfield Armory Corporation

In 1969-70the Village experienced another significant growth spurt with the opening of four new high school buildings along with an increase in business and employment opportunities due to highway expansion which then connected Lafayette to Indianapolis via 118th Street; all these developments led ultimately to increased housing demand throughout Whitesboro Township which necessitated construction of even more homes throughout 2006-2007 creating yet another single point increase in population from 1,800 to 2,100+.
