In 1865, Mayor James Kapp established the first school district in Indianapolis with land donated by wealthy resident George Morse Sr.. That same year also saw the construction of the present-day skyline including First National Bank building which stands to this day as one of westfield's most iconic landmarks. The late 1800s were tumultuous for westFIELD due to World War I efforts by both America and Great Britain to gain control over what would become known as Europe's breadbasket. As factories closed across America, jobs went away for local residents who couldn't find work elsewhere during wartime production shortages. However, westFIELD persevered through tough times with support from its citizens until 1948 when it merged with neighboring city Fort Wayne to form one continuously growing community which we today call Indy
Westfield, Indiana is a city in and the county seat of Porter County, Indiana, United States. The population was 382 at the 2010 census. It was founded by farmers in 1824. Westfield became an incorporated town in 1868.
