Westfield is an unincorporated community in Mercer County, Indiana. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of the Indianapolis metropolitan area. The Westfield post office was established in 1868, and remained in operation until it closed in 1984. At that time, the town had a population of 514 people. The original settlers were farmers who came from Pennsylvania and other parts of New England. They started a small farm near what is now the intersection of State Road 509 and Whetstone Road. In 1872, they built a cabin near what is now Interstate 65 and Whetstone Road. The first store in town was opened by Isaac Miller in 1874; it was called the First Mercantile Institution (FMI). In 1896, Jens Jensen bought land west of town from William Davenport for $1,000 cash. He started to build a sawmill there on the site of today's White River Elementary School; it became known as Jensen Mills Inc.. In 1907, he donated land east of town to create the new Westfield Memorial Park which still stands today (). With this donation, Jensen became one of Tulsa's main donors to that city's civic life ().

Westfield, Indiana is a small town in central Indiana, United States. The population was 7,878 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous community in Crawford County and the most populous community in Butler County. Westfield is also one of two cities in Elkhart County. The first settler to reside in what is now Westfield was John Stephenson on December 5, 1800. He purchased of land east of present-day Westfield from David Wesselsbach for $5 per acre. By 1824, twelve families had settled there and by 1830 they had built a courthouse and post office on the site of today's First Baptist Church and School District Building. A store was built on Second Street in 1836 and by 1840 it contained seven blacksmiths and four wagonmakers as well as wigmakers and other clothiers." In 1847, James Haughton platted what is now Easton Township which extended along the then current alignment of College Avenue from thence to New Albany Road (now State Road 12). This township would later become part of Westfield when it was organized as a village on November 1, 1868." "On October 3, 1861 while under military occupation by Union forces at Vincennes Bridge near Princeton Junction (now Edwardsville), General Simon Cameron issued an order authorizing Major General George Meade to open all roads leading into or out of Fort Wayne so that transportation could be procured for troops stationed therein." At this time much progress had been made with regards to development within what are now Elkhart and Kendall counties; but due largely to lack of funds resources available centrally during those years many new villages were not established until after World War I when a larger pool of centralized funding became available."
