Westfield, Indiana is a village in Hendricks County, Indiana, United States. The population was 5,935 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute metropolitan area. Westfield is located on State Road 10 and 2nd Street south of the city of Terre Haute. The village was founded in 1854 as a small community near what is now Westfield Township. In 1875, it became an official village after being granted a charter by the state ofIndiana. In 1916, it annexd to neighboring town of Terre Haute and then again in 1922 when that town merged with East Aurora. In 1951, it annexed to nearby city of Terre Haute. In 1984, Westfield became known as "the Village" after its incorporation into the larger Indianapolis metropolitan area following passage of Laws 1984-723 which revoked Jackson County's charter from being an independent municipality within the Indianapolis metropolitan area and made Westfield one of twelve "municipalities within [Indianapolis] having authority over their owninternal government." 1) On September 1st 1984 (just prior to enactment), Westfield became one half of sisterhood with South Bend

Westfield is a city in the U.S. state of Indiana and the county seat of Harrison County. The population was 61,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Statistical Area. Westfield was founded in 1814 as a town on a small branch of the Wabash River by fur trappers and traders from Canada who named it for Reverend Edward Westfield, an American missionary to India who had reached this region earlier that year. In 1847, when Harrison County was formed, Westfield became its county seat. The city's first school was built in 1851 and its first courthouse in 1857. A new downtown center began to be developed around 1960 and became known as "The Town Center." The downtown area now includes more than 50 buildings with more than 2,000 apartments and businesses under one roof. One major street running through the city is called "Westfield Boulevard" after this moniker been given to it by developers following a public referendum in 1984 which approved plans for a $2 billion redevelopment project that would have included hundreds of new homes, offices, shopping malls and other commercial areas downtown including Nowhatten Park near South Park Avenue and Interstate 465 east of I-465; however, this plan never came to fruition due to opposition from some residents who felt they were being displaced by development on their southern border while others saw potential benefits such as increased traffic congestion caused by heavy employment growth within walking distance of their home without inconvenience or impact on quality of life outside their block or neighborhood despite claims made during planning stages about improved access to education, transportation and other amenities not easily accessible from central business districts adjacent streets away). In recent years there has been further development along State Road 64 (Old Rte 64) which runs parallel to I-465 just south of town limits; this road has seen various uses including becoming a major source for jobsites for construction activity along both sides of I-465 between Indianapolis/Purdue University west side (Thioton Airport) - providing easy access into Indy via highway -and neighboring Decatur Township east side (formerly Goshen Township), thus creating what is known as "The Bridge Corridor". This corridor also provides direct access into Downtown Indy from almost anywhere within 10 miles radius without having to go down busy I-465 corridors. One significant change taking place recently throughout much Greater Indianapolis has been an increase in Hispanic representation across many sectors across all social classes starting with professional occupations up until recently but now beginning generally with service sector roles although white working class individuals continue to comprise most corporate ownership positions overall although there are increasing numbers among low income families too often held back financially by Apartment Association policies limiting number or type of apartment units available making it difficult if not impossible for them fully participate even partially in larger community efforts
Westfield was founded in 1837 by Isaac Westphal and his family. It became a city in 1890. In 1967, it became the site of the first large-scale international open-air shopping mall, called the Westfield Center.
