(AOM) located in Mishawaka, Indiana began producing lenses for military snipers using a new technology known as biconvex lensing. With this new method, light rays were focused into two nearly equal spherical surfaces by means of two concave mirrors placed at right angles to one another. The resulting images were then corrected for chromatic aberration and perspective effects. In 1954, AOM merged with Raytheon Corporation to form Raytheon/AOM Incorporated. AtRaytheon/AOM Inc., engineers developed the first electronic microscope (EM). This microscope used an electron beam to enter objects through small holes in the front cover glass and produce high-resolution images that could be seen on a screen or even under a magnifying glass! subsequent products by Raytheon/AOM Incorporated included digital photo printers; video cameras; radar detectors; touch screen displays; night vision goggles; IR illuminators; sound generators

Washington was founded in 1791 by George Washington and his wife, Martha. The area that is now Indianapolis was first settled by the Potawatomi tribe in the late 18th century. In 1814, Indianapolis became part of Indiana Territory and until 1824 it was known as Putnam County. On March 15, 1824, the day before Congress created said territory, Indy became the capital of Indiana Territory. In 1840, when Indiana became a state, it added what is now Indianapolis to its boundaries. The city has been continuously ruled by a white male leadership since then- Mayor James Shields announced mayoral candidacy on December 8th of that year and won election on January 3rd of this year after running unopposed for two years. The history of Indianapolis can be traced back to its earliest days as an agricultural settlement with Cherokee Indians living nearby and trading goods with them. By 1800 there were over 100 residents in what is now downtown Indy; many worked on farms or built houses during the early years of development. However, due to antislavery sentiments prevalent during that time period it was not until 1830 when anti-slavery protests took place throughout much of America that fences were erected around some areas allowing enslaved Africans to trade goods freely with whites without being caught or reported to authorities (Bennett). This began a trend where African Americans were allowed access into white neighborhoods through open door policies but continued exclusion from certain parts of town because property owners felt they would lose business if they opened their homes to black people (Fowler). One such early African American resident in Indy was Elijah Muhammad who arrived here in 1830 from Africa via shipwreck (Moore). Muhammad helped found prayer meetings at Philadelphia's Second Baptist Church before moving eastward in 1835 and settling near present day Union Station where he established his own mosque which still stands today. After becoming leader of one of America's largest mosques, he traveled across North America giving religious speeches and lectures urging people to emancipate themselves from slavery/enslavement (Hinds & Hirschfeld). It wasn’t until 1865 when President Abraham Lincoln signed Executive Order No. 965 which banned racial discrimination within the United States government based off color (Dixon). With this new regulation came stricter segregation laws enforced by agents working for federal law enforcement officers known as “Jim Crow” patrols which targeted primarily African American citizens living within integrated neighborhoods (Galloway III: 161-162; Dixon) . Overall these restrictive measures had a negative effect on social stability and economic opportunity for both black Americans and whites alike making Indianapolis one example among many throughout America during this era suffering from public racism/ethnic stereotyping
