The Chinese were eventually able to create a much easier-to-use gun design that became known as the early muzzleloader rifle or simply muzzleloader. This weapon consisted of a tubular stock with a round ball fired from a shotgun barrel through an opening at the top (known today as an action). This type of rifle was later modified into what is now known as a handgun in order to allow semi-automatic fire while still remaining easy enough for civilians to operate. The development of firearms wasn’t just limited to Asia however; Europeans began using them during the Middle Ages too. The earliest European firearms appeared in southern France around 1000 AD when French monks discovered gunspowder (a kind of explosive) while exploring new territory. Soon afterwards other groups such as English Crusaders were utilizing firearms for warfare purposes as well. It wasn’t until 1453 AD though when Portugal introduced their own type of firearm which became known as the musketeer – this weapon employed large cylindrical rounds instead of small balls which allowed it to be fired from longer distances than either bows or cannons could reach.

Washington, Indiana is a town in Putnam County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,746 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Washington were David and Esther Cushman who arrived in 1800. They built a cabin on a location which they named "Cushman's Hill". They also grew corn and raised livestock. In 1824, the Cushmans moved to what is now known as Greenfield and started a grist mill. In 1830, Isaac Newcomb started an apothecary business in Washington with his brother-in-law Elijah White. Newcomb also bought 160 acres (65 hectares) of land where he built what is now known as Newcomb's Prairie School House. In 1836, James Prentice settled in Washington and began selling goods from his store at what is now downtown Washington. He also fished the Wabash River for salmon until 1840 when he removed his family to Findlay, Ohio because of bad water quality near his farm there. In 1848, John Hargrave settled in Washington just north of present day Georgetown and opened Hargrave & Company grocery store on Main Street adjacent to the old Miami Hotel building that still stands today as Oneida Baptist Church headquarters dating back to 1865! Oneida Baptist Church was one of first churches southside Chicago founded by pioneer Reverend Drayton Wright! There are many stories about how this church got its start but we will never know for sure! The post office was established at Washington in 1850; it continued serving until it closed on October 15th 1961 due to automation within government agencies!! In 1861 US Civil War veteran Samuel Griggs enlisted with General George Armstrong Custer’s 7th Michigan Infantry Regiment “Horse Guards” under general command Lieutenant Colonel John Fenton’s Brigade – becoming only the 5th military person ever awarded Congressional Gold Medals!!! Samuel met General Custer while serving with him during this regiment tour!! After discharge from service Samuel returned home toIndiana where he started a restaurant called The Griggs House Cafe until 1930 when it merged into Steak n Shake Inc .Today that building still stands walking distance from I-465 exit 417 South across from State Farm Arena !! On July 4th 1870 Ruben de la Torre Grant came through town on horseback looking for new land for settlement purposes after hearing about offers being made for lots along Wabash River east of Georgetown by General Order No 30 dated January 9th 1870…..He purchased 640 acres (248 hectares) directly across from current day Georgetown Limits……… grants became law November 3rd 1870………………………………….Washington become Grant County name effective December 2nd 1870…………………grants allowed people including clergymen teachers etc.,to build homes without fear or favor from landowners…………….Granted 500 acre (20 hectare) hunting preserve located northeast corner current day Granger Road/Old Ulysses S Grant National Monument boundary………………………………….This hunting preserve remains today open year round………………………………….Grant County seat was established at Grantville………………………………..GRANTVILLE WAS FIRST SETTLEMENT IN THE COUNTY WHEN IT BEING PROVIDED WITH A SHELTER FOR FREE BY SAMUEL GRANT ON OCTOBER 3RD 1790………..Today that shelter still stands just west side Of I-465 exit 417 South next to State Farm Arena
