As part of this training program, Commodore Noyes donated four gunsights to Vincennes Police Department in 1852 (the modern-day model Hennig) which allowed us to use these firearms for protection from crime on our streets! This donation also helped to develop our current police force into one of the most professional in America today! In 1892, Commodore Noyes donated another four gunsights to Vincennes Fire Department; these cannons are still in use today! These donations gave us our present-day fire department as well as our strong history as a contributing factor towards givingVincennes its nickname “The City on Lake Michigan”!
