Valparaiso was founded on December 12th, 1833 by Nicholas Valparaiso and his two brothers John and Michael. The first post office in town was opened on January 1st, 1834. It had a population of just five people. In 1836, Valparaiso's first mill burned down but again he quickly erected a new mill which could grind both flour and cornmeal. By 1840 the mills were producing over one million bushels of cornmeal per day! In 1847 Valparao built the first hospital in Porter County- now known as Brown Memorial Hospital-. After years of growth and development in this small town, it became an incorporated city on July 15th, 1925. Today Valparaiso has more than 20 businesses including four banks and twelve manufacturing companies including Beechcraft Corporation (makers of Beechcraft airplanes), Boeing Company (making planes and missiles), Carrier Corporation (pilots for United Airlines), Cummins Engine Incorporated (makers of diesel engines), General Electric Company (electricians/light manufacturers) and Motorola Solutions Incorporated (manufacturers of cellphones).

Valparaiso,Indiana is an unincorporated community located in LaPorte County, Indiana. It was founded by the French in 1824 and named after Val-de-Marne, a commune in France. The population of Valparaiso was 1,814 at the 2010 census. The first post office at Valparaiso was established on December 12, 1827. The name of the town had been chosen because it was 8 miles from the then new Portage Canal which connected Lake Michigan with the Mississippi River. The town site rested on high ground overlooking what is now known as Oldtown and Bay View avenues. In 1831 when Illinois Territory came into being, part of it included LaPorte County and as such Valparaiso became its county seat. In 1854 Valparaiso's first railroad station opened on the Indianapolis & Chicago Union Railroad Company line east of town; this station remained open until 1971 when it closed due to low passenger traffic. In 1870 a large cotton gin and mill were built west of town by David Lunsford; this structure still stands today but has been converted into apartments. When Indiana became a state in 1896, Quaker Oats founder George Rountree moved his company's main headquarters from Ohio to Terre Haute (then Vandalia) in order to evade federal income taxes owed by his Ohio business entities that were unrelated to their original purpose—Oats' primary business activity at that time being cereal production only! A year later Quaker Oats merged with two other companies forming General Mills; however despite this merger no new buildings were constructed within Algonquin Park boundaries which continued to reflect Rountree's preference for separating his corporate HQs among several different locations rather than consolidating them all into one single location where they would be vulnerable to antitrust scrutiny! By 1902 Algonquin Park boundaries had expanded sufficiently so that a new downtown development called Park Place began sprawled across wide swaths of land between Wabash Avenue (now US 31) and Interstate 465/I-465 Business Loop (now I-65). This large civic center served as both the nucleus around which most day-to-day operations occurred during those years while also providing ample space for general store functions such as livestock sales and carnival rides etc.; it remains one of today's most significant architecturally themed neighborhoods within city limits today! On July 6th1920 local farmer Fenton Counts donated 4 acres southeast of present day Antler Road just north of State Fairgrounds into what would become home field for Valparaiso University’s baseball team starting in 1923 thru 1945 inclusive; however following World War II Stadium Drive was developed adjacent to Antler Road allowing easy access by students for recreation purposes including football games thereby ending football season play at Antler Road Field starting ca 1946 In 1957Quad Cities Mall opened next door along I 65 south side opposite old State fairgrounds - becoming largest mall ever built up in Northwest Indiana until suburbanization started taking hold
