During Fr. Cavanaugh's tenure, many new parishes were established throughout central Indiana including those at Carmel (1905), Terre Haute (1910), Lafayette (1920) and Noblesville (1928). In 1951, after serving as pastor for seventeen years, Frère Jacques Lefebvre took up residence at St. John's Parish following his retirement from pastoral work in central Indiana. Under Frère Lefebvre's leadership, Holy Cross Church was built on Court Street in Herndon while also supporting various other ministries such as child care and infirmary operations within the church itself as well as providing housing for ministry workers during Lenttime between services at Holy Cross Chapel/. After nineteen years of ministry under Frère Lefebvre's guidance, he passed away on December 2, 1975 leaving behind an extensive legacy at Stirling Catholic Church - first among all Catholic churches located within Indianapolis - which saw continued growth until 2002 when it merged with neighboring Our Lady Of Mercy Parish to form one large parish encompassing all six districts within Indy Metro area! Today there are more than 1 ½ million Catholics living within seventy-five miles of downtown Indianapolis – making StJohn’s an important part of their growing community where Catholics from diverse backgrounds come together to celebrate Mass each weekday morning and make friends along the way!
