There are many firearm t-shirts that have been produced in St. John, Indiana over the years. One of the earliest firearms t-shirts produced in St. John was a design created in 1978 by Rick Davenport for his own personal use. This shirt featured a Ruger 10/22 rifle alongside the slogan "Guns don't kill people, people kill guns." At the time, this was an incredibly popular gun and it is still seen as one of the most iconic firearms products ever created. The first modern firearm t-shirt to be produced in St. John was created in 1984 by Bob Hatton for both his business and NRA member Tom Weidner. This shirt featured a Glock 19 handgun with the slogan "You're not as smart as you think you are." In this article, we will discuss the history of T-shirts with a focus on how they have been used to promote gun rights and Second Amendment rights. The origins of T-shirts began in the early 1800s when soldiers would take turns wearing t-shirts that read "I am not a pacifist." This statement represented the soldier's belief that violence is never justified and that any act of violence is ultimately against oneself and others. The phrase "I am not a pacifist" was also adopted by America's Founding Fathers in order to differentiate American from British society where peace was more important than individual freedom. In 1867, Congress passed an amendment to the US Constitution which granted Americans the right to bear arms (the 2nd Amendment). This amendment protected citizens from being arrested or taxed without due process if they possessed or attempted to possess firearms without lawful justification. The success of this amendment led directly to the development of T-shirt printing businesses across America; these businesses printed shirts specifically designed for military or sporting events such as football games and baseball games in order to generate sales and awareness for gun rights causes. As time passed, other interests such as conservation became more prominent among people who enjoyed shooting sports, so NRA members were often featured on T-shirt designs during these years (e.g., “NRA member since 1954”). During World War II, many soldiers went through boot camp wearing NRA t-shirts as part of their uniform clothing because it symbolized their conviction that all citizens should have access to Firearms in order protect themselves and their families from harm should war come knocking on America’s door (Erickson 2001). After wars ended throughout most parts of Europe, many guns disappeared from civilians' hands so it was no surprise when shootings started up again inAmerica following 9/11 – especially given what had happened previously during peacetime (Snyder 2003). So why did American Vets start wearing NRA t-shirts post 9/11? It likely has something do with Buying Power! Many veterans now live outsideOfThe United States where ammo is hardto find which means they may need help buying munitions domestically while keeping weapons out OfThe hands Of Terrorists & Criminals! At least thats my Theory On Why Some Veterans Are Wearing NRA Shirts Again After September 11th

In 1846, the first Catholic church in St. John, Indiana was built. The parish was founded by Father James McKenna and Mother Mary Ann Montoya. The church served the town for over 50 years until it was destroyed by a fire in 1962. In 1966, Father John Jelinek came to St. John from Terre Haute and started serving as the first Catholic Priest of the Parish. In 1978, after more than 20 years of services, Father John Jelinek retired from his duties as the priest of St. John and moved to Rome to become a Jesuit priest there. After many years spent working with different parishes in Italy, FrJohn Jelinek returned to live at St.John’s Parish on October 1st 2003 and continues to serve as our sacristan today!
In 1814, the town of St. John was founded by James K. Polk. It was named after the apostle John, who had been sent to India in search of converts. The town received its present name from General George Armstrong Custer when he discovered it while campaigning in Indian Territory in 1876.
