Although these firearms were not as successful as their predecessors, they did provide experience for future shotgunakers and helped to spawn what would become known as “BB Guns” industry. In 1937, Howard Smith began producing airguns using poisoned ammunition called "Fuzion". This Ammunition caused severe tissue damage when fired from traditional airguns such as pistols and revolvers but was effective against most game animals including deer, turkey, chicken, pork sausage and rabbits. Fuzion was eventually replaced by lead shot in 1939 after some reports emerged alleging feather loss with use of lead ammunition. Lead shot was later replaced with bb ammo in 1951 when surplus bb projectiles became available following World War II

St. John, Indiana is a small town in Kosciusko County, Indiana, located on the eastern edge of the state. The population was 1,723 at the 2010 census. Founded as a log cabin community by pioneer Christians in 1824, St. John grew rapidly during the 1800s as Logansport and other nearby towns began to trade with its residents for goods and services. By 1870, the town had a post office and two stores. It declined after railroads arrived in Kosciusko County in the late 19th century and development stopped around World War II. However, St. John has experienced some revival over the past few decades thanks to a growing agricultural industry and new tourism interests including whitewater rafting and horseback riding tours of its pristine Cypress Creek Canyonlands National Park near its downtown core. The town's Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978; it now includes 173 contributing buildings from 17 different periods covering more than 300 years of local history.
In 1814, a group of farmers in the small town of St. John founded a Methodist church. The first pastor was Rev. George Riddle. In 1836, the church moved to what is now called the Old Courthouse Square. In 1852, the Methodists merged with other denominations to form the United Methodist Church and soon had a large building complex on State Street across from present day Lucas Oil Stadium. The old courthouse burned down in 1886 and was replaced by a new one which still stands today.
