The first race at what would become Speedway took place on October 15, 1908 when 25 cars made it to the track after traveling from nearby Indianapolis. The race was won by John Stackpole who drove a buggy driven by his father George Stackpole. The first professional speedway within Johnson County actually had its roots back before that date as the "Indianapolis 500", an event held annually at Goodyear Park Racetrack which included races up until 1954 when it was moved to Arlington Park due to sponsorship issues between Goodyear and Indianapolis Motor Speedway Ltd (IMS). In 1951, First Speedway Corporation merged with International Speedway Corporation which would create what would eventually become I-Corp; one of the largest telecommunications companies in America at that time. In 1978, First Speedway Corporation merged with American Air Lines Company for $2 million creating what would eventually be known as American Airlines Flight Museum; home to one of America's most famous airshows as well as many other exhibits related to aviation history including an original Boeing 727 cockpit restoration project completed in 2006! That same year also saw the inauguration of Mayor Tom Barrett who served three terms before retiring effective January 1st, 2019 having helped position Black Township governmentally for all 50 states through his work ethic and dedication while also chairing many community organizations including being elected President/CEO/Governor of Purdue University’s Alumni Association! In 2018 Big Four Racing Holdings LLC purchased all of I-Corp’s interests making it an operational partner with NASCARPIretton Sports & Entertainment Incorporated – NASCAR’s global governing body for racing - providing full support for all aspects related to speedway operations such as marketing, research and development, motorsports programming and events across North America including international events taking place throughout Mexico City (Mexico) Agricultural Fairgrounds Expo Grounds Joint Exhibition Site near Pekin (Illinois) Forkside Drive Race Course adjacent thereto - making Speedway once again one stoplight on I-465! With this purchase comes new heights both financially and operationally given their vast experience encompassing everything from single track circuits throughout North America right up until major league sports events like the Masters Championship Golf Tournament or Indy 500!
