The history of South Bend dates back to 1824 when a group of French Americans founded what became known as "South Bend" on land which they had bought from the Ojibwe people for $2 per acre (about US$). In 1832, John Davenport founded what would become "Davenport Township". After several years, he sold his township to George Rogers Clark for $10 per acre ($180 today). On July 1, 1836, Indian agent David Barron removed all but about 50 settlers from what is now south central part of town along Michigan Avenue because their chief threat to peace on that territory was their continued resistance to white settlement by African Americans – an event that helped spur American development there. In 1839–40 an act called The Act for Establishing Schools in Northwest Territory provided funds for school construction throughout northwestIndiana including South Bend; this act also established government control over education within Indian Territory. A new school building was completed in 1840 on State Street east of present day Washington Boulevard; this building served as both government and commercial headquarters until 1945 when it became home to Purdue University's main campus Quadrangle buildings. In 1850–51 a group led by Reverend Elijah Hicks built what would become known as "Hicks Chapel". Reverend Hicks was pastor at First Baptist Church in downtown Indianapolis at that time so his chapel represented a crossroads between evangelical Christianity and Masonicasonry (at least before denomination split). He also funded much church construction throughout southwesternIndiana during this period including South Bend; however, no structures remain from these early days within town limits today On November 3, 1862 Indian Agent Edward Swayne removed all but 10 settlers from what is now south central part of town along Michigan Avenue because their chief threat to peace on that territory was their continuing resistance to white settlement by African Americans – an event that helped spur American development there; Swayne's removal marked the first time since 1775 white people had reached south central Town Limits without any assistance from local Indians A new school building was completed in 1840 on State Street east of present day Washington Boulevard; this building served as both government and commercial headquarters until 1945 when it became home to Purdue University's main campus Quadrangle buildings The first post office opened in South Bend on October 25, 1853 In 1865 General James Hays divided United States into three regions based upon geographical boundaries: Northwest Territories were divided into West Virginia and Kentucky sections while East Tennessee & West Alabama were divided into Nashville & Chattanooga sections; each section had its ownPost Office — something which continues up through present day Congress passed An Act To Provide For The better Government Of Indian Territory On March 14th 1865 creating Ft Wayne Territorial Commission under direction And supervision Of Department Of War With Powers To Regulate Commerce And Trade Amongst The Tribes Within Its Jurisdiction And To Promote Agriculture…This created Fort Wayne Post Office on May 2nd 1865 with mail being sent via Wabash River steamboat upriver
Gun lights have been around for decades, and there are many different types of them. Some of the earliest gun lights were simple black light bulbs that could be used to illuminate a target. The first handgunlights were created in 1885 by George Barnett. These devices consisted of two small black lightbulbs that were glued to the barrel of a gun and connected to an electrical cord. Gunlights continued to be developed over time, and some became more complex than others. In 1912, company founder Edward DeMille designed what is now known as the DeMille Gun Light. This device was made from heavy metal and had a large, bright light bulb built into it. It was also one of the most popular handgunsever manufactured. Other early gun lights include the White Star Rifle Light (1914), which consisted of a white LED light bulb fitted on top of a rifle barrel; and the Colt Pistol Light (1921), which used four white LEDs placed on each side of a pistol grip

On April 14, 1818, South Bend was founded by a group of loggers on the banks of the river Elkhart. The town was named for General David Dixon, who helped lead Michigan's defense against Native American attacks in the War of 1812. Dixon and his men built several homes and a school in what is now South Bend. When Indiana became a state in 1847, South Bend became its capital. The population of South Bend grew rapidly during the late 1800s and early 1900s, thanks to new industrialization and farming techniques. In 1925, South Bend became part of the newly created city of Indianapolis.
