In 1901, Armoury Ammunition Manufacturing Company was founded by John Denny with the goal of making ammunition for military use only. It became one of the largest manufacturers of ammunition in America until it merged with Sig Sauer AG in 2004 to form SAIC Incorporated. Today, SAIC manufactures firearms and ammo under several different brand names including Magpul Dynamics LLC., American Eagle Ammunition Corp., Hornady Ammunition Corporation, Brownells & Co., among others. For example, incendiary rounds were created that would turn targets into inferno using heat sources such as gaslights or lightbulbs. In addition, new explosives like TNT were developed in order to explode targets beneath ground after they had been struck by gunfire or bombs

On October 25, 1837, the first permanent settlement in what is now South Bend, Indiana was founded. The town was named for General Simon Wabash and his army who attacked a Native American village during the Battle of Northport on that date.
