On November 1, 1922, Prohibition began to take effect in the United States; this caused many businesses to close their doors and people lose their jobs which had an impact on the local economy. However, soon after repeal occurred several new businesses started up including a grocery store and clinic which helped revive the economy of that time period On July 1st 2006 Emporium Outlet Inc., which had been operating as an online retailer since 2000 closed its doors effective September 30th 2006 due to economic conditions within that industry .
