Today, Shelbyville continues to be a vibrant community with a diverse culture and economy that revolves around manufacturing and technology sectors. Many residents are active members of local organizations such as First United Methodist Church (FUMC), which operates two elementary schools (Lutheran School & Boys High School) and one middle school (Middlebrook). Additionally, many companies have their headquarters or plants here - including Ford Motor Company and Carrier Corporation - meaning there is plenty of job opportunities for those who want them!

Shelbyville is a small town in Noble County, Indiana. The population was 1,021 at the 2010 census. Its name is derived from the Shelby River which flows through it. The first settler in Shelbyville was David Thomas who arrived in 1793. He and his family were the first white people to live in what is now Noble County. In 1814, John Dickson founded a log cabin near present day Shelbyville. The log cabin was the nucleus of what would become the town of Shelbyville. In 1825, Judge James Ransom established land grants for settlers in Noble County and named one of them "Shelbyville". By 1830, there were over twenty families living in Shelbyville. The post office was established at Shelbyville on January 7, 1830 by Samuel Hutton. It served until December 3, 1865 when it was closed due to low circulation and new mail service being inaugurated by President Andrew Johnson that same year. Despite its small size and lack of infrastructure such as schools or transportation systems during its early years, Shelbyville experienced significant growth throughout the 19th century due to its strategic location within Noble County and access to resources such as water and lumber. This growth came about because of several factors such as: -The opening of the Indianapolis & Logansport Railroad in 1853 which allowed for increased trade between Indiana and Illinois; -The construction of two national banks located within easy driving distance of ShelbyVILLE; -The development of agricultural plantations close to water supplies that yielded high profits for landowners; -The influx of African Americans into northern Indiana during Reconstruction who helped support local businesses; -the establishment of a parish (Churchtown) nearby that attracted numerous whites interested in acquiring property along Onion Creek
