Seymour, Indiana is home to the world’s largest indoor shooting range. The facility has been providing shooters with an enjoyable and safe experience since 1892. It is also where many of America’s most famous firearms manufacturers have their operations. Today, the range offers a variety of ranges including 25-meter rifle and pistols tournaments as well as unique course experiences like the “Firing Line” which takes visitors on a journey through history from early American gunners to modern day snipers. One of the earliest shooters in Seymour was George Ladd who opened his first shooting gallery in 1892. Ladd operated the range until his death in 1934. His son Willis ran the business until its closure in 1984. During World War II, Seymour hosted military shoots that were used to teach children about firing firearms properly. In 1985, local merchants decided to turn Seymour into an all-ages venue for target Shooting events called “The Range Day at Seymour!” This event continues to be held every year and features some of America’s top competitive shooters.

Seymour, Indiana is a small town located in central Indiana. The population of Seymour was 5,729 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Indianapolis metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1835 by Jeremiah Seymour and his brother-in-law, Prentice Craddock. The name "Seymour" comes from the French word "seigneur." At the time, the Seymour family had a ranch in what is now western Michigan. Jeremiah's son Isaac bought the land in 1856 and moved to Seymour with his family. The first school was built on this site in 1857. In 1870, John Stephenson opened a general store here with his son John Stephenson Jr., who became one of the most successful businessmen in town. In 1886, banker Julius Rosenwald brought over an investment of $10,000 for construction of a water tower and other improvements on Main Street near present day First National Bank building (the current home of Edwards Chevrolet). This marked the beginning of a long relationship between Rosenwald and Seymour residents that would continue until Rosenwald's death in 1984. A post office was established at Seymour on July 1, 1860, under the name "Lafayette." On November 3rd 1890 (one year after its establishment), it changed its name to "Seymour," afterJeremiah Seymour's grandson Hiram Seymour Sr.. The last postmaster at Seymour was Lula Bogan on September 30th 1961. A new post office building was constructed at 620 North High Street (now known as First American Bank) which replaced an older structure dating back to 1889 which had been destroyed by fire two years earlier while being used as a mercantile store owned by JH Boyd & Sons

After the war, the area became a center for agriculture and growth. In 1871, Seymour became an independent city. The city's population grew to over 10,000 people by 1920. In 1950, the city annexed neighboring towns of North Vernon and Vincennes. The merger created a combined population of over 25,000 people.
