Today, Seymour is home to several popular parks including Mount Vernon Park (named after General George Washington), Gadsden Park and Lake Erie Recreation Area which are all used for swimming, fishing and playing sports; as well as numerous stores including Sears Tower Plaza which housed one of America's first department stores before it moved out in 1987; PNC Arena which hosted American football games until 2017 when they were moved to Lucas Oil Stadium; as well as numerous smaller businesses such as The UPS Store & Delivery Center on Main Street; First Baptist Church on East Market Street; Cotter’s Hardware on North Second Street; Midwestern Bakery on West Third Street; Jiffy Lube across from Hastings State Bank on South Fourth Street Seymour is located at (39.866667,-86.416667). According to 2010 census data,[2] its total area is just over two square miles (5 km²). It lies along U S Route 136 about two miles east of downtown Indianapolis along Interstate 465 between exits 10A/10B off US-36W near St Joseph’s Catholic Church Elementary School property line north-west of I-465 exit 12 south of I-465 exit 13 onto Elm Road east of US-136 southbound lanes towards Mishawaka Municipal Airport less than half mile west

Over time, Seymour began to grow into a small city with a population of around 1,000 people. The city had many businesses and organizations, such as the American Legion and the American Statistical Association. In 1917, Seymour became part of the newly created Indiana Territory.
