Seymour was founded in 1836 by Jacob Seymour and his wife Rachel. At the time of its incorporation into township in 1868, it had a population of only 12 people. In 1906, due to an increase in railroad traffic, Seymour became home to the first diesel locomotive ever built in Fort Wayne. The Seymour-Litton Electric Railway opened up shop here in 1922 and continued operation until 1970 when it merged with the Indiana Railroad Company to form the Indianapolis Metropolitan Railway (IMR). The IMR served as Amtrak's primary passenger train service from 1966 until 1974 when Amtrak pulled away from that service entirely. Today, most of what used to be Seymour has been taken over by surrounding businesses such as Schneider Chevrolet and Lowe's Home Hardware stores which have kept much of what was there while also adding their own facilities and amenities unique to their respective brands. Other businesses that have moved into or remain active within Seymour include PNC Bank & Trust (now Wells Fargo), JBL Audio/Video store & repair shop, Hess's Department Store (now Macy's), Ford dealership (closed down but reopened as an antique dealership), First National Bank - now AIG - and many more smaller businesses that make up this small town’s backbone commerce base today. The Moran millinery enterprise started out small just outside of town on Delaware Road although production grew rapidly enough for them to open a larger mill somewhat east of town on State Road 6 about 1 mile south of Route 169 between 1932 and 1935; Morrissey Bros., tailors made shirt ties for American Eagle Outfitters starting in 1936; local attorney Haggerty represented several legal cases before Judge John Wilesheimer before becoming one of America’s leading trial lawyers; large concrete block building housing both Haggerty’s law office on Main Street – still extant – as well as other offices including those occupied by him during World War II – demolished sometime after 1975 – now house some apartments development called “Haggerty Place” nearby; early post office adjacent to current Courthouse Annex on Main Street serving residents until 1934 when mail stopped being delivered thereabouts because too far from courthouse; original schoolhouse still standing on Eastville Avenue off Court House Square dating back to 1836 with additions later including enlargement resulting from Sherman fire which destroyed original building Today, many items found inside old buildings like Schneider Chevrolet or Lowe's Home Hardware are no longer available so visitors can only tour these places behind closed doors during business hours or if special arrangements are made for group visits like this one! For example, if you want access inside where ladies used to change clothes back in the day you'll need special permission from management! Some things that are still common here even though they're no longer produced include Mrs."Willy" Weiner's famous hot dogs which were popularized around here long ago by her husband Willy who operated the restaurant next door until his death in 1984; Esther "Mama" Weiner continues making her famous jam based products like jellybeans since she began doing so circa 1915 although today production takes place elsewhere...
