The business flourished for many years and served as a key source of firearms knowledge for locals and visitors alike. In 1927, the Weiland family sold their business to James J. Larkin who continued to operate it until 1959. At that time, the business became known as “The Gun Shop at 11th & State Streets”. During this time period, Larkin also operated a number of other businesses in Seymour including a grocery store and post office. In 1978, Larkin passed away and his son took over the business; however, he retired in 1988 and passed away two years later at the age of 94%. Since 1958, The Gun Shop at 11th & State Streets has been owned by Michael Puskar Jr.; however, he has only had partial ownership since 2001 when his father bought out his shareholding in the company. Under Puskar Jr.'s ownership, the shop has undergone numerous changes including updates to both the customer service aspect of operations as well as new flooring and equipment additions which have helped make it one of Seymour's most popular tourist attractions.
