Many police departments use these kinds of barrels in their handguns as they offer improved accuracy over standard issue weapons while still being able to handle tougher training scenarios safely . Lastly there are special purpose Barrels like those used in tactical gear or Blackpowder cannons which often require specific barrel dimensions in order to function properly . These special Purpose Barrels often have lighter bullet weights and smaller diameter projectiles so they don't cause excessive wear on traditional firearms like cartridges do from repeated firing
