The history of ammunition in Portage, Indiana can be traced back to the early 1800s. Ammunition was first used in war by Native Americans as a means of defending themselves from contact with European settlers. By the 1830s, powder and shot had replaced spear and arrow as the main weapons used by Indian nations. In 1855, Henry Clay Frick organized a group of businessmen to establish a trade center at what is now known as town square in Portage. The town was named after Frick because he donated the land on which it stood. At this time, there were only two small grocery stores and one post office in the community. In 1892, local ranchers started buying up land around town square for use as their ranching businesses expanded into new territory. This allowed for the development of portages between these ranches and the city east of town. As business grew near downtown, more acres were needed for farming purposes so a new county courthouse was built across the street from Town Hall in 1904. Ammunition production began on an industrial scale during World War I when local plants produced 15% of all US munitions output. The Treaty of Saint-Germain-en-Laye ended World War I and opened up world markets for American goods; this led to an increase in manufacturing jobs throughout Portage County. Production continued until 1945 when wartime restrictions placed limits on ammo production once again; however, someHOWEVER small amounts still continue to be manufactured today (mostly for reloading). During Prohibition years (1920-1933), Portage became known as "the most corrupt city in America." Officials within that period filled their pockets with bribes while raiding liquor stores throughout the city; consequently, many firearms dealers closed their doors during prohibition timescales because they could not compete with bootlegging operations run out of City Hall! In 1933Portage made headlines when Mayor John Buhl announced that he would not seek reelection due to personal financial difficulties; however, Buhl later admitted he took bribes from various manufacturers during his time as mayor! It has been generally accepted that corruption within government led to problems within industry following prohibition - this seems particularly true given that large numbers of Community College graduates found employment working inside government agencies immediately following prohibition's end! During World War II ammunition production increased exponentially due to shortages caused by patriotism rather than political corruption; however mass production halted after Pearl Harbor due to Japanese military aggression against America! Portage, Indiana is a small town in the state of Indiana. The population was 3,876 at the 2010 census. It is located in Posey County. The town was founded in 1827 by George Meek and his family. The Meek family farm now occupies most of the site of Portage. In 1827, George Meek and his family traveled from Kentucky to settle in Posey County, Indiana. He built a log cabin on what is now Millen Road in present-day Portage Township. His cabin became known as the "Meek House". Over time, other families moved into the house until it came to be operated as a grocery store and home for various community events. In 1951, Mr. Meek donated land adjacent to his house for use as a public library which still operates today under its original name - Portage Public Library! The post-World War II era saw many advances made in Portage including accomplishments such as becoming one of the first communities to establish water fluoridation (a measure that helps reduce tooth decay). Today,Portage continues To overcome challenges including oil spills that have taken place along its rivers and streams; however, it remains an agriculturally prosperous community with a thriving economy that supports many local businesses including several banks and restaurants!

Post-war growth slowed down but resumed following World War II when many new homes were built. Today, Portage remains a small community with a population of around 350 residents.
On October 1, 1827, the first Indiana Territory was created from parts of the Northwest Territories. It included what is now Michigan and Ohio. The territory was named for General Anthony Wayne, who had won a military victory over Native Americans in 1812.
