Plymouth is an unincorporated community in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, United States. It is located on the south side of the mouth of the Kankakee River. The population was 905 at the 2010 census. Plymouth's growth began when farmers moved into what are now the downtown blocks along State Road 10-A in the early 1920s; this area now includes most of downtown and much of northside Plympton as well as parts of eastside and westside Tippecanoe County. During World War II, many residents served in military units stationed within or outside of their communities; these individuals formed what is now known as "The Purple Heart Battalion" (a reference to their unit's official color) which donated many items such as clothing and vehicles to support war efforts both inside and outside of America. In 1954, Plymouth became one of six townships within Tippecanoe County combined with other nearby townships to form Vandalia Township; however, Vandalia never gained much success economically or politically, falling apart by 1990 when all vestiges were eliminated except for a few homes still standing along State Road 3-A which forms part of present day Walnut Street."

In 1814, General Anthony Wayne's army destroyed Fort Dearborn onthe Potomac River in what is now Montgomery County and forced French to flee to Plymouth. The city was founded on May 1, 1836 by General David Hunter as "Plymouth Landing". It became a town on December 15, 1836 when it had a population of 10 people. The first school was built in Plymouth in 1837 and opened to students on January 7, 1840 . The first courthouse was built in 1840 and served as the court house until 1865 when it was replaced by the present building which served as the courthouse until 1987 when it replaced an earlier structure that also served as a courthouse dating back to 1827-1828. Plymouth has been through many changes over its history including becoming an agricultural community during prohibition; experiencing rapid growth during World War II due to defense production;declining during the late 20th century due to both economic factors and demographic change;and experiencing significant redevelopment beginning around 2000 which has caused job growth and increased retail opportunities downtown
Plymouth was founded in 1814 by Captain James K. Polk and his family. It was named after Plymouth, England, where the first United States Congress was held. The city became a major American port on the Great Lakes region and played an important role in America's development. In 1929, it merged with the nearby town of Danville to become one of the largest cities in Indiana.
