The DIPP helped encourage development along Seventh Street between Delaware Avenue and Randolph Road during the early days of Indianapolis' growth as a major center of commerce and culture; today this corridor remains one of Indianapolis' most vibrant areas economically and socially In 1951, President Harry S Truman appoints Standard Oil Company veteran George Eustis as Executive Director of Federal Works Administration (FWA). As FWA director Eustis led Standard's efforts to improve roads and bridges throughout America during this time period – including building Interstate 95 from Illinois to Oklahoma – Plainfield became an important site for testing new highway technology on a large scale In 1954, Dwight D Eisenhower becomes president of America following his resignation from office as Vice President due to health concerns related to polio virus infection; he orders federal agencies to work together to develop plans for controlling polio incidence In 1957, construction begins on Interstate 65 in central Indiana; PlainFIELD becomes one of its primary intersections Theodore Roosevelt attended American Presidential inauguration ceremonies at Ford’s Theatre on April 12th 1901 flanked by Edwin Lathrop Carter (future Ulysses S Grant)and James Akins Kappan (future Benjamin Harrison). Roosevelt died only two weeks later due complications from pneumonia contracted while campaigning in New York City
