Noblesville is a town in and the county seat of Noble County, Indiana, United States. The population was 9,661 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Indianapolis metropolitan area. Noblesville was founded in 1824 by George Washington Carver as a small village on the site of what is now downtown Noblesville. In 1836, when Noble County was created from parts of Posey and Hendricks Counties, it included all present-day Noble County except for the portion lying east of I-465 which went to Dunkirk Township. In 1852, when Noblesville became a full county, it had a population of 581 residents. The first post office in Noblesville was established in 1827 and served until 1840. The first settlers were James Dickey and his wife Rebecca (née Robertson). Dickey laid out two square miles (0.8 km²) of land on the west side of Indianapolis River between today's Meridian Road and North Meridian Road and named it "New Noblesvillet." He also laid out one block northward along North Meridian Road known as "Old Noblesvillet." On October 24, 1830, Congress passed an act authorizing Isaac Asbury to transfer land from Posey Township to Noble County including that lying northwest between High Street (now I-465) and State Avenue (now US-12), forming what are now portions Of both Noble Counties: Asbury received 4 acres (1 ha) northeast of what is now Center Street/I-465; 1 acre (0.48 ha) southwest of where Union Station used to be located; 2½ acres (1 ha) east or northeastofpresent day Midland Avenue; 1 acre (.32 ha) southwesterlyof today's Whitehall Road/I-465; 1 ¼ acres (.48ha)(today's western border with Dunkirk Township); 2 lots on banks of Whitewater River opposite current day Midland Avenue/US 12 & I-465 just north ot Live Oak Drive near present day Candlestick Park - this parcel formeast corner ot Live Oak Drive just east ol East Ridge Road & Justo Lane ol Eagleton Rd./I-465 - these lots formeastern boundary ol present day Lafayette Square NE & Wabash Ave.; total: 12 acres (). A post office called Nobleville was established in 1823, but it was inactive for several years. In 1828, George Ransom built a sawmill on the current site of downtown Noblesville. The townspeople voted to incorporation as a village on December 12, 1853. On July 1, 1907, Noblesville officially became an independent city with its own government and mayor. Downtown Noblesville features a Half Moon Brewery & Distillery which opened in 2007 and produces craft beers such as English Lager (4%), India Pale Ale (IPA), Golden Promise ( Porter ), American Blonde Ale (AB), Brown Stout (Stout), Caramel Brown Shoe Stout (Bourbon imperial stout) and Columbus beer .
